New engagement between science and society for a healthy region
Healthy people, healthy animals and a healthy environment – how these are connected concerns us all. In Greifswald, extensive research is being conducted on these issues. But what do the results of this research mean for society in Vorpommern? And how can answers be found to the questions and ideas raised by people in the region?
We aim to
- spark your curiosity about the topic of One Health,
- and provide insights into knowledge about the health of people, animals and the environment
- and involve you—and your questions and everyday experiences—in the scientific knowledge-building process
- and support you in initiating local projects of your own
- and strengthen regional engagement of science for society.
To this end, we will offer small and large participatory formats at various locations across Vorpommern. The venues, dates and topics are still being developed. This constructive exchange is intended to lead to One Health activities initiated by civil society actors.
Our long-term goal is to work with the public to better understand the interconnected health of people, animals and the environment, and to support and accompany societal engagement in developing practical approaches for action.
For our colleagues, PEB OH offers an opportunity to become more familiar with, understand and apply science communication and public engagement. To support this, we offer a series of training sessions. Our communication science–based accompanying research examines when and how public engagement is most effective.
