The regional core actors of the initiative have outstanding expertise to address the existing complex One Health challenges. They combine expertise in the areas of:

  • "Healthy People" (University Medicine Greifswald),
  • "Healthy environment" (University of Greifswald)
  • "Healthy animal" (Research Institute for Farm Animal Biology (FBN)).

Founded in 2021, the Helmholtz Institute for One Health Greifswald builds on this expertise with a focus on "zoonotic diseases", "antibiotic resistance" and "prevention of zoonoses".

Also linked is the expertise of the Friedrich-Loeffler-Instituts for Animal Health as a federal research institute in the field of food-producing animals.

The core players of the "One-Health-Region Vorpommern" initiative work together with many partner organizations such as cities and districts, tourism, farmers' and spa associations, the Greifswald Agricultural Initiative e.V., the MV Medical Association, the MV Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, the MRE network, local schools and creative artists.
